Meta settles landmark lawsuit for $18B | Social Media Today

Meta has agreed to pay up to $18 billion over 10 years to settle lawsuits brought by nearly all U.S. states alleging that Facebook and Instagram were designed to addict children and teens. As part of the settlement, Meta will introduce stronger youth protections, including two-hour daily usage limits, overnight access restrictions, school-hour notification blocks, and enhanced age verification. Meta denies wrongdoing, and the agreement still leaves some states and other lawsuits outside the settlement.
