Google’s AI Mode monitoring and OpenAI’s new “dots” agents are turning search queries into ongoing instructions that continue working after the initial request. While Google monitors changing information across Search and OpenAI’s agents can handle assigned tasks using connected apps and the web, both raise new questions about source selection, website visibility and how AI-driven updates are generated.
